Is Marketing against your Ethics?

Architect, How to Market

Marketing has no place in architecture – it’s a gentleman’s profession in which you don’t promote yourself or advertise. Hanging your shingle up and doing exceptional work should be enough.

Now I don’t know if this guy is pulling our leg, but it makes me ask the question: Is architecture a “gentleman’s profession”? Does promotion and advertising run against your grain? What do you think about marketing an architecture firm?
